Guests

Phil and Christina, two Bucknell students, came and stayed with us for a few days. They were the easiest guests ever. All they really did was sleep and shower in our apartment. Tyler, another Bucknell student in the study abroad program, entertained them. He was a great host. They were out every night until 3 am and once until 6 am. They three students babysat the kids once so Collin and I could go out. It was fun to sit around talking to them and telling stories until late at night when we would go to bed and they would just be starting out for an evening of tapas and dancing or whatever it is the young folk do here in Spain.

The day Phil and Christina left, Dale, Valerie and Joseph came over for dinner. They were in Granada with their BYU study abroad students. I made panko crumb fried chicken, salad, pisto and apple pie. We also had saladias (salty bread that mostly closely resembles focaccia bread, but without the herbs) which Collin bought at a bakery and Turron (nougat flavored) ice cream. The food turned out great in spite of my evil oven and temperamental stove. I was pleased to see Dale have seconds. And the kids all liked the food too, minus the pisto.

After dinner, the kids went and played in Aidan's room while the adults chatted in the living room. We talked mostly about religion. It was a very interesting and enlightening conversation. I loved listening to and watching Dale and Valerie talk. They are both professors and obviously spend a lot of time and energy and brain power pondering spiritual things. When one of them was talking and the other one wanted to interrupt or add something, they would raise their hand and say, "Oh, oh! Call on me!" We had a really good, in depth discussion about spirituality, faith and religion.

Ian looks like he just got caught with his hand in the cookie jar... or like he has to use the bathroom.
