The Biggest Scare Ever

Saturday we lazed around all day until late and then we went to La Rosa and bought each of the kids a pionono. They didn't like them!

Aren't these the cutest baby romaine lettuces you ever did see? I could hold three in my hand at once.

Today at church I was sustained at the first counselor in the Primary Presidency. Later, my friend Veronica told me that she had wanted me to be in the Young Women's Presidency, but asked too late. I would have like either. Collin got not one, but TWO callings! He will teach in Primary every other Sunday and he is also a counselor in the Young Men's Presidency. He feels a little overwhelmed. His students are coming in two weeks so he is busy preparing his curriculum as well as the outings. I had to conduct the music in Primary today and I don't really know how. Luckily, the songs were all 3/4 and 4/4. Little Carlos asked Collin to baptize him because the guy that was supposed to do it broke his leg. Collin said he would do it, but now they thing the original guy can do it after all. Carlos's mom, Sara, wanted me to teach her how to sing the hymn Be Still, My Soul in English, so we practiced at the park tonight. Afterwards, she asked me if I could sing the second verse with her and the third verse on my own. So I guess I am singing at Carlos's baptism on Saturday. I spoke Spanish for 5 hours today if I count church and meeting Sara at the park. I feel a little better about my Spanish. I know I just need to keep studying and practicing.

The fashion here is SO interesting. I promise I will write an entire blog entry devoted to fashion when I have collected enough pictures. For now, you'll just have to be satisfied with this awesome pair of metallic silver daisy dukes.

Yesterday, Ian was on his heelys dancing like a robot and saying, "Dinero, dinero," which mean's "money." Maybe he can earn some extra cash by being a street entertainer. I think he has more talent than most of the acts I've seen here on the street.

Emma made a friend at the park named Virginia and played with her a bit. It is too bad that we don't have anyone in our building that the kids could play with. They really need more friends. Thank goodness for church.

After we were done at the park, we walked home. Collin had gone to his office. The kids kept saying that they thought he was going to jump out and scare us. I looked up at our window from the courtyard and saw that there weren't any lights on in our apartment. We walked up and went to open the door. It was totally dark inside the apartment. Collin was standing right by the door in a crouching stance in the dark. I SCREAMED bloody murder which scared the heck out of Collin (serves him right), but I also scared the kids. They all started crying very loudly at the same time and didn't stop for about 10 minutes. They were mad at Collin for scaring us and mad at me for screaming. Aidan thought there was a murderer in the house and Collin's dead body on the floor. Ian thought I saw a cat burglar in the house who was trying to steal Collin (good luck putting Collin in a sack and throwing him over your shoulder). We now have a complete ban on scaring. (Yesterday we said it was a free for all on scaring.)

My dad used to think it was hilarious to scare me when I was little. He even made me pee my pants once... To this day I get very nervous walking down dark hallways or into dark rooms.

At first I was mad at Collin for scaring you guys, but he explained the whole "free-for-all" scaring conversation you guys had with each other. I'm glad everyone agreed to call a truce and NOT scare anyone. Not only is it traumatizing... someone could get hurt!
